Hedera has contributed CLPR, a cross-ledger protocol developed by Hashgraph, to the Linux Foundation Decentralized Trust (LFDT) as a new lab. Hedera is a public blockchain network, while Hashgraph develops blockchain infrastructure and protocols.
CLPR aims to connect different blockchain networks without bridges or intermediaries. Today, most networks operate separately, making it difficult to move assets and data between them. Existing solutions often rely on bridges and wrapped tokens, which can introduce additional security risks and liquidity requirements.
The protocol uses cryptographic proofs to let blockchains verify each other's state directly. This is designed to allow applications to transfer tokens, data, and messages between networks without relying on third-party infrastructure.
With this contribution, CLPR becomes an open-source project. Developers can access its code through LFDT Labs, test different applications, and contribute to its development. The lab provides a way to build a developer community before the project potentially moves to full LFDT status.
The announcement also includes the launch of Hashgraph's Cross-Ledger Early Adopter Program. Financial institutions, fintech companies, asset issuers and other businesses can participate in testing the protocol.
The program focuses on cross-border payments, settlement between ledgers, and collateral transfers. Participants will receive access to a testnet environment and technical support to explore how CLPR can be used in financial applications.
